Australia Gets Into Amadey Malware Backend, Cuts Off Access to 180,000 Infected Computers

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) has confirmed that access to 180,000 compromised computers globally, some located in Australia, has been severed.

This action was achieved by ASD operators gaining entry to the backend infrastructure of the criminal operation utilizing the Amadey malware.

The agency reported that "The next steps that we took were to disconnect that Amadey controller from all those" affected systems.

Consequently, the threat actor employing the Amadey malware is now prevented from either stealing data or accessing these 180,000 infected machines.

This intervention represents a significant operational disruption to the threat actor's command and control capabilities.

Such successful containment actions underscore the ongoing efforts by national security agencies to neutralize persistent malware infrastructure targeting global endpoints.
